Demand Solutions National 2015 Conference

Demand Solutions 2015 Client Conference

Gold Coast, QLD – 21 & 22 May 2015

“We learned a lot more about Demand Solutions and the passion behind the driver’s seat. That’s a great big learning step for us – and aspiration as well.”
– Fausty David Pathiala, Global Demand Manager – FCI Singapore

The 2015 Client Conference was launched with a Trivial Pursuit session led by Wayne Shapiro from Trivia Madness. Competition was strong between the 10 teams of delegates. The ‘Dudes’ team won the Trivia segment.

The second half of the team competition was organised to compare the best & most resourceful “selfie” photos taken by any team during the 2 days. Different QT Hotel locations and personnel in the “selfie” contributed more points. The overall winners were the “Frubes” by a small margin of 2 points from the “Dudes”.

‘Find the Rhythm to Success’ – was the theme of our Guest Presenter Ian Stephens

Ian, who is a National Speedball Champion, spoke with a passion of the need to focus, on discipline, motivation and achieving greater personal outcomes. He was witty and dynamic, as he shared insights into the importance of commitment to both process and preparation for business success.
Ian provided our conference delegates with valuable practical suggestions for improving negotiation to help the delegates understand how to influence people without being their direct authority manager as well as discussing options and ideas for managing stress.

Several adventurous delegates practiced their speedball skills ahead of the master class demonstration of championship speed and style from Ian himself.

DS Analytics (powered by QLIK) a data visualisation tool was launched at the Conference with guest Kaitlyn Wright from the QLIK organisation

We are excited to be introduced to the world of data visualisation … from reporting, to dashboards, analysis and application creation.

Whether it’s on your pc, laptop or mobile device business today demands “real-time”, “at-your-fingertips” business analytics … timely, effective decision-making relies on this.

“Hi Yuri, you and your team organised a great couple of days. It was great to talk to other DS users and partake in the DS applications introduction / training.”
– Peter Hyde,  Inventory Planner – Philmac

The Panel Discussion proved to be interesting and instructive for the delegates with important contributions from the audience of delegates.  The key issues discussed during the session:-

  • Customer or key account Forecasting V’s Non Customer Forecasting?
  • Value of a Bottom Up detailed and granular demand plan compared with high level naïve Top Down forecast / demand plan.
  • Collaboration: – Who should be involved in Forecasting process? – How do Marketing & Sales interface in the forecasting process?
  • A recent Oliver Wight survey of Australian managers highlights a poor standard of SOP implementation: – The panel & delegates contributed to an instructive discussion that pointed to the key role of senior management in making a robust SOP happen.

The theme across the variety of hands on workshops was to focus on directing clients to “Finding the Rhythm” in their historical data and using the variety of exception management ‘tools’ in Demand Solutions to effectively improve the resulting Forecasting outcomes.

This year’s conference also included a special breakout session concentrating attention on DSX.

The conference “allowed me to understand DS better…. I have had a lot more interaction with others to try and understand how they use the system … it gives you a different insight on the usage of DS and ideas on how to improve.”
– Karla Armas-Pages, Inventory Manager – Modern Star
