Leanin' Tree, a manufacturer and distributor of greeting cards, plans to implement a new enterprise resource planning system, but keep Demand Solutions Forecast Management as its forecasting solution.

Oftentimes, manufacturers bring in Demand Solutions Forecast Management (DS FM) to provide further forecasting muscle that their legacy enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems are unable to deliver. In the case of Leanin' Tree Inc., DS FM is the holdover component and an SAP ERP system is the new software addition.

Usually when a new ERP system is implemented, the situation calls for a clean slate with all legacy software pushed to the side. But manufacturers are looking to do more with existing information technology resources, and Leanin' Tree doesn't want to mess with a good thing by removing DS FM from its software lineup.
